CRCHOG History

For many years, the church was known as "Wright's Corners Church of God". Why was the corner of Coon Lake Rd and D19 known as "Wright's Corners"? Alfred & Sarah Wright bought 187 acres on what is now the South West corner of Coon Lake Rd and D19. They built a log cabin, and then later on a beautiful 2 story frame house with 11' ceilings on both floors, and a full basement.

In the old days it seemed that the mail carrier was struggling to get through to folks who lived back off D19 because of terrible muddy roads. So, the Wright's put up a large community mailbox in the middle of their front yard so that people in the area could get mail delivery. All folks had to do was request that their mail be addressed in care of Wright's Corners.
