Maundy Thursday Service, April 21...
- We held our Maundy Thursday service on April 21. This was a special service as we celebrated an ordinance recognized by our church of feet washing. The service included a time of singing, reading of Scripture, and a reflection of Jesus' actions as recorded in the Bible; book of John, chapter 13. We also observed communion and, of course, feet washing. This is basically how we do the feet washing part: pails of water and towels are provided; while one person is seated with shoes and socks removed another person would approach them and ask if they could wash their feet; the washing of the feet simply involves placing a persons foot in a basin and pouring water over the feet with a cup or with your hand, and then drying the feet with the provided towel. Men wash men's feet, and women wash women's feet. This is still a very humbling experience... much like experienced by the disciples when Jesus washed their feet. If you have questions about feet washing please don't hesitate to contact Pastor Mike at the church office.
